About PCC

The Philly Contact Collective is a group of unapologetic movement addicts who are fascinated by the body – how it moves, how it interacts with other bodies and how it responds to different spaces and environments.  Our practice is based in Contact Improvisation (CI) dance, but we also draw from a variety of different dance, movement and performance art traditions including modern dance, clown and neo-futurist performance.

A more tangible reason why we practice, perform and share our work has to do with touch.  CI is revolutionary in its approach to touch.  It allows touch to be intimate without being sexual, which is something precious few of us ever experience. It is our hope that through performance we will allow others to share in the power of that intimacy as well, even if they never get to the point of experiencing it for themselves.
